Very happy to see my picture among other wonderful photographers from The Journal Collective in The Washington Post Magazine today.
The Journal supports women* photographers worldwide documenting their intimates stories and growing together as a community during the current pandemic.
The Federal President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife the First Lady Elke Büdenbender opened my exhibition "Heima/t" in the Aerbajarsafn Museum in Reykjavik,Iceland. The President held an opening speech and had a talk with a few of the german women who I portrayed in my work. It was a very special day for all of us who were involved, and I couldn`t have wished for a better way to honour the stories of the Esja Women, who came to Iceland in 1949.
Reykjavik is an early stop on Greenpeace bold pole to pole trip in an effort to raise awareness for the conservation and protection of the world’s oceans. The final goal is for an ambitious ‘Global Ocean Treaty,’ a ‘Paris Agreement for the oceans’, that will provide protection for 30% of the world’s ocean by 2030. As part of this aim, Greenpeace has been holding multiple events, concerts and forums to discuss the threat to the oceans.
