"Tracing the Possible" – Les Rencontres d’Arles 2025

I’m happy to share that my personal project “The Weather Report” will be part of the group exhibition "Tracing the Possible" during the renowned Les Rencontres d’Arles photo festival, shown at Fotohaus Arles.

The exhibition brings together the works of seven photojournalists from the laif agency, documenting personal journeys across the globe shaped by courage, solidarity, and creativity. These visual narratives address urgent themes such as climate, conflict, and identity – and invite us to rethink our concepts of community, happiness, and coexistence.

Even amidst crisis, the images open up spaces for hope and transformation.

"HEIMA/T" – Fotoraum Köln E.v.

I’m delighted to announce my forthcoming solo exhibition “HEIMA/T” at Fotoraum Köln e.V., showcasing a deeply personal photographic journey.

Based on my long‑term project HEIMA/T, this series explores the stories of young German women who emigrated to Iceland in 1949—leaving behind post‑war Germany to settle in a place they initially knew little about. Through portraits and landscapes, the work offers insight into their experiences of displacement, adaptation, and the concept of “home” between two worlds .

HEIMA/T invites reflection on resilience and identity: it captures both the emotional imprint of upheaval and the quiet determination of forging a new life, framed by the vast, contrasting Icelandic environment.

I'm proud to share that my pictures from the project “The Fastest Warming Town”, a photographic exploration of Svalbard and its rapidly changing climate, has been featured in the British Journal of Photography on October 5, 2021.

The images were originally created for the article “The World’s Northernmost Town Is Changing Dramatically” by Gloria Dickie, published in Scientific American.
The work captures life in Longyearbyen — the northernmost town on Earth — where the consequences of climate change are both immediate and deeply personal. Through quiet, observational photography, the series reveals how a small Arctic community lives with melting permafrost, unstable terrain, and an uncertain future.

Many thanks to the British Journal of Photography and Scientific American for spotlighting this urgent story from the top of the world.

I’m honored to share that my long-term documentary project “The Weather Report” has been featured in The New York Times on January 25, 2021.

The series centers on a meteorological observer and sheep farmer in the remote fjords of Iceland. In a landscape where weather defines every aspect of life, “The Weather Report” explores solitude, resilience, and the deep interconnection between people and the natural world.
In a time of climate uncertainty and increasing disconnection, the project reflects on rural life, female experience in peripheral landscapes, and the quiet strength of continuity.

HUGS TO POST

we miss hugging so 13 women* photographers and me collected some hugs and put them on postcards. This way people can share hugs with their loved ones even if they are far away.

And as we know sharing is caring we have decided that all proceeds will be donated to Doctors Without Borders

The Body Issue is a visual dialogue about bodies and how they are perceived in media has been undertaken by the Female Photographers Org Collective. Founded in 2018, Female Photographers Org will regularly publish photography books devoted to issues, while also organizing companion exhibitions under its own direction. The goal is to increase the visibility of female photographers, since women are still underrepresented in the art world.

Opening Speech held by the Federal President of Germany - Frank Walter Steinmeier

The Federal President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife the First Lady Elke Büdenbender opened my exhibition "Heima/t" in the Aerbajarsafn Museum in Reykjavik,Iceland. The President held an opening speech and had a talk with a few of the german women who I portrayed in my work. It was a very special day for all of us who were involved, and I couldn`t have wished for a better way to honour the stories of the Esja Women, who came to Iceland in 1949.

GREENPEACE Ship Esperanza
30th May - 07th July 2020

A dream comes true. I will be joinig the crew on the Greenpeace Ship Esperanza in Reykjavik to document the "Protect the Ocenas"campaign on Iceland.

Reykjavik is an early stop on Greenpeace bold pole to pole trip in an effort to raise awareness for the conservation and protection of the world’s oceans. The final goal is for an ambitious ‘Global Ocean Treaty,’ a ‘Paris Agreement for the oceans’, that will provide protection for 30% of the world’s ocean by 2030. As part of this aim, Greenpeace has been holding multiple events, concerts and forums to discuss the threat to the oceans.
